Sticker redux- Beef #2

I can’t remember the last time I did this: redrew a sticker design… but here it is and I like this much better. Now the set is complete and ready to go. This set started out as just “Midnight Movie”, but along the way became glam, rock n roll, sexuality, and 3 movies from a couple year period. They all featured Frankenstein’s monster characters too, which was an early through line to the set that now only Beef fits with (the one in Tommy is easily my least favorite part of that movie so I had to let it go). If I had gone with that, I would’ve done Rocky instead of Riff Raff.

Fun fact: William redrew his sticker paired up with this one as well, the titular Phantom of the Paradise. We discussed it at length. We love the characters we chose, but neither of us really like the movie. It’s like De Palma was trying to do a straight version of a queer movie and feels just … wrong. But we all love Beef just because of the performance. I feel the character is written as an “ew, gay” villain for the straight audience, but Graham makes him a camp classic that queers now claim as their own. Anyway, it seems our split feelings on the film affected our creative processes and needed some processing 🫠

I’m not yet decided on what the next set will be. I’m leaning towards Queer Kaiju, or maybe Bara versions of some of my characters. Any suggestions?
