I’m late on a mid-week post so here’s a bit of hot gardening and updates. I’m currently working on this month’s sticker, this next page of Dinosaurs, a commission, and soon the next welcome sketch.
Q-con was a lot of fun! A bit less traffic, probably due to being early May instead of mid-June. It’s always great to see our convention family. We (William and I) noticed that we’re selling more smaller books these days, as in zine size/chap books. Of course we have more of them than in previous years, but the crowds at small events definitely gravitate toward them. I think we may be looking to produce more of these, as we enjoy doing black and white work. We can use local printers and copy mats if they aren’t adult material, which is a limitation but we can both tell non-explicit stories. Explicit work we can print at home or with our comic printer we use for adult printing.
While going through some art supplies recently I came across all of my linoleum block print supplies. I haven’t done this type of work since just before I started doing comics… I think it is time to do some again. It’s great as a simple graphic print maker, akin to screen printing but normally just on paper. I had used it to make custom greeting cards before. I think I may be making some again… and who knows what else.
