One more page of this. I feel quite strongly on this subject and have to speak my mind on it, it’s all I can do.
I am keeping it to two pages, though it could easily be more, given the subject.
I have had a couple of very depressing days researching facts, collecting reference photos. This is a composite drawing of several different aspects of the memorial at the Treblinka extermination camp in Poland. The mass in the foreground is a giant slab that covers one of the cremation pits, made to look like charcoal.
President Biden apologized officially just days ago for the genocide of the indigenous population of the country, the largest genocide in history… there are no monuments to the dead. Only for specific events, such as massacres or the trail of tears. I was a little surprised by this. We really haven’t reckoned with this at all.
Maybe this is appropriate for the day of the dead.
