This is the last time I drew the Grey Otter, from 2010. I was enamored with 11”x17” comix mini-posters done by other artists, such as a few by Tom Neely (of Henry & Glenn Forever fame). I was also wanting to do something political, and went to the Grey Otter for it. The woman on the elephant is Ann Coulter, and the Gorn at the Otter's feet is a loud-mouthed anti-gay shit-stirrer from the era, who's name escapes me (Maggie something? Gallagher. Maggie Gallagher). She lead an anti-marriage equality organization called N.O.M. (National Organization for Marriage). She's a literal troll and I did her a favor by portraying her as the lizard-alien from Star Trek. The Homocon I don't think was anyone in particular, just a (gay) conservative foot soldier, like Milo Yiannopoulis or Andrew Sullivan. Anyways, I thought I was doing something clever here, but I couldn't give these away and is probably the first example of my journey of realization of just how difficult good political comics are. I definitely can't just come up with something, it has to grab me first.
I do like the drawing, and especially the Homocon's design.
That's it for the Grey Otter posts! at the end of the month they will be marked as archived and only viewable by wolf-boy tier (and up).
