Dead Calm

Hey it’s another fan art piece, this time Nao from the incredible “One Cut of the Dead”, a Japanese zombie comedy. I went into this not knowing much about it, and even questioned my choice during the first act… but it’s so worth it after that. A pure joy, and Nao is definitely the most intense character, threatening to murder a friend here while proclaiming that she’s in fact “calm, dead calm”. It just gets better as the film progresses and the layers are peeled back.

Anyway, you might notice that I enjoy doing portraits of people covered in blood… this goes back to my old portraits of mma fighters. I had a friend who was attacked back then and had posted pictures of himself drenched in blood… I wanted to do his portrait then but he was uncomfortable with it and I didn’t get to, lol. I still have a stash of suitable photos of fighters covered in blood to dip into some day if I feel like it, but occasionally a horror character fills the need, bwa ha ha ha
