I’ve developed a fondness for this overgrown pterodactyl in recent years. He was one kaiju I really didn’t care for before. What happened? I don’t know. Maybe it was the King of the Monsters film from 2019. Maybe the Mondo shirt of him I got at the beginning of the pandemic. I think these things allowed me to see past the crappy awkward suit of the showa era films and see that he’s quite a character. I’ve also become enamored of his musical themes as scribed and recorded by Akira Ifukube.

Anyway, a collaborative strip William and I are working and planning on having in our 2 man anthology book (yet to be titled) features me drawing Rodan, and William drawing a character from a fandom he enjoys doing battle—- arena style. It should be a lot of fun and I am sure we will both be posting about it as it is executed.

This here image is an illustration done from one of my panels—- the comic itself I expect to be less detailed. I just needed to breathe a little and do something impulsive, and this piece is very fitting with my current crush on the monster. I will likely make some merch from it as well and see if it moves (my Godzilla sticker is fairly popular on Etsy).
