Blood River Masterpost (Ep 1-18)

Comments

ep 18: I felt the need to offer you a Snickers during your frustration haha, but I have to disagree I think the writing for her teasing her dad about 'liking Changhe' was established e.g. right when we got to know her and she pretended to be 'just the apprentice' they saw her as ^^ to me it just felt like the usual teasing & bickering (incl her relationship with Changhe, personally I like them this way, it's like Changhe & Baihe silently agreed on shared custody for Muyu,...while pretending they can't stand each other lol)

Short notes on the imperial family: I think this is a bit hard to follow without having seen Dashing Youth. There are different generations at play here. ‘Older’ Generation: Xiao Ruojin, Emperor Mingde Mingde is the era name he took after taking the throne. So during the show the years are counted like ‘10th year of Mingde’s reign’ and so on. and Xiao Ruofeng, Prince Langya Those two are brothers not only via there father, the previous emperor, they also share the same mother. Their mother wasn’t favoured much by their father, so they grew up very close and competed together against their other half brothers. ‘Younger Generation’ Emperor Mingde's sons we know of (by various consorts and concubines): Xiao Yong, First Prince The oldest of the imperial sons, that’s the guy that also wants to kill Prince Langya, his uncle. The older guy that is often by his side plotting with him is also his uncle, but from his mother’s side (Dian Ye, a general). Xiao Chong, Second Prince, Prince Bai Appears in BoY, the prince that is blind at the start of the show and gets to be the next emperor at the end of BoY. Xiao Chuhe, Sixth Prince, Prince Yong’An The guy that calls himself Xiao Se in the jianghu and is the ML of BoY. Xiao Yu, Seventh Prince, Prince Chi One of the antagonists in BoY. Mentioned in this episode only as „the Seventh Prince“, because he gets to visit his mother in the palce to tell her about her father’s/his granfdather’s death (Yi Bu, the Shadow Sect leader). The last three are still quite young at this point in time. Sorry for the length, drawing a family tree might have been easier.

ep 17: Su Xiemo (guy at the end in Homeland) was testing Changhe's Qi skills whne giving him the tea. They have a few moments like that e.g. between the Chancelor (was that the title? I too need a notebook XD) and the former great Eunuch when he was stalling time to keep the Eunuch from getting involved in the fight with the Shadow Sect ^^ yay Changhe/Muyu adventures continue :)

ep16: 'proud hubby & errand boy '-Changhe :3 thanks for the reaction :)

Ep 16: Deprived and depraved :DDD Aren't we all? ;D The fight sequences are always so good in this show and I love when they use previous moves in another, unexpected way. Love the reaction! ♥

Ep 15: Yes, the monk (Wang Xi) and Prince Langya were talking about Wu Xin (his birth name is Ye Anshi, his father they mention is Ye Dingzhi). I guess the prince's wish for the child to turn out ordinary didn't pan out exactly.

Ep 14: :D You know, casual bromance things. Nothing our shipper hearts could do anything with... :DDD Can't say anything about your theories, because of spoilers, but I liked your worried scolding of Su Changhe. As you saw, it was all part of a plan to deceive the Shadow Sect. Let's see how that turns out. I don't know where you could have seen Prince Langya's actor, recently he's been in Whispers of Fate (also a great gay *cough cough* bromancy show) and Legend of the Female General.

Ep. 14: Yes, Li Xinyue is Li Hanyi and Lei Wujie's mom. You can see where Li Hanyi's short temper comes from, while Lei Wujie is so much more like his dad. Bai Shu (Xiao Ruofeng, Prince Langya) plays his own character's son (Xiao Lingchen, Xiao Se's cousin who was hiding out with his father's troops) in Blood of Youth, so that's at least one show where you already have seen him before. And I agree with Cactus Dragon, this is one of these 'bromances' that really dances around with what censoreships alllows at the moment. Both look at each other like the people in Beili look at their swords. And the people of Beili really really love their swords.

ep 14 yeah that Changhe/Muyu New Year Memory is one of my fav scenes :3 (along with Changhe's 'totally not a love confession' of wanting Muyu to stay with him in Blood River but also having bought him a house and offering enough money to set him up for life, if Muyu wants to leave... among the epis you've watched so far) Fangs Of Fortune & Whispers Of Fate & Blood River: my favs atm in the genre 'it's totally not a BL cause we're airing this in CN', haha yeah bromancing close to the sun :3

Ep 13: Su Changhe is just very inclusive of Bai Hehuai, you know? Whatever Su Muyu might want, he'll get it for him. She just has to realize that they're a package deal. OR, he thought bringing a miracle doctor along would be a good idea on this mission. I know which version I prefer, but to each their own :DDD
