Van Ness, who recently came out as hiv+, said he knew Reagan was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of gay men, but was still going to pick him over Bernie because of his fabulous hair. He didn’t only do a reprehensible thing like pick a vile politician over a good one because of “style”, but prefaced it by throwing an entire generation of gay men under the bus.
Yesterday, out.com published qn article about how the backlash from this made him cry. And that no one had the right to criticize his words without taking who he is into context.
So, wow... you’re a famous tv celebrity hairdresser so no one can criticize you for saying something so lacking in morality and judgment, that stabs your fellow gays squarely in the back to get a jab in at a democratic contender.

I had thought “context” was his being gay and coming out recently as hiv positive, and his generally “rough life” as a wealthy gay child and such. Probably as a celebrity too. That doesn’t give you carte blanche to say evil shit with no consequences. Lol. They won’t dump him, he’s really popular and even the article about him being upset misrepresented what he said that people were reacting to.

That's an insult to every hairdresser/stylist and/or reality TV show star in the world, if that's his "context". And then he comes back later and in a rehearsed statement in an "interview" starts talking about progressive LGBTQ policies and strong women in politics?
