Looks like I’ll probably be doing an image a month for this. This was presented to me as a comic page, which fairly well represented the action of the event in the story, but didn’t get the characters well... and was really just too clean for this gutterpunks tale. I decided to do it as a single illustration—- a comic page as illustration doesn’t work—- and combined several key moments of the scene into one image. It might look like they are ganging up on the driver, but in the context of the story, he was the aggressor and was also let off the first time with a warning. The punk in front is belching out flies like Candyman does bees! It’s a wacky and fun, creative and touching story.
