Hey hey it's page 4! I'm actually pretty pleased with this page. Same basic layout as the previous version but drawn a bit better, imho.
You ever read Voltaire's Candide? My first time in Europe, 30 years ago (yikes!), my boyfriend and I were staying in hostels across Amsterdam, Spain, and Portugal. We both brought books, and I ended up reading his... and so I read Candide while in Portugal, where a lot of it takes place. It's an interesting book, and not at all what you would expect from the author. It's a really dark comedy of errors. I later bought a different boyfriend a copy with cover art by his favorite comic artist, Chris Ware, whose work is very fitting for Candide. Anyway, the moral is basically that the world sucks and we can't control that... but we can work to make our own lives better. Kind of a Buddhist philosophy, and a good one, but I have a hard time reconciling both with doing what we can to make positive change in the world.
Next page: we ain't going down that street.
