Sadako leaves a message

This week me and bae watched Sadako vs. Kayako, a ridiculous recent entry in the Ring franchise. And I wrote a little review of it on Instagram (@dogspunk if you wanna follow me there). We also recently watched the latest american entry, RINGS. .. which I liked more than I should have because it was obviously taking from the original novels unlike the last american film, RING 2... which was awful. Since I have an unreasonable love for this character and the franchise in all it's forms, I have been considering just writing a comic book essay on it. This piece above is just a finished version of a doddle in a sketchbook from a dozen years ago, but I felt it was a good time to do it while I ponder the idea of a full comic on Sadako. At first I considered doing a straight up review and comparison of the films (12 currently), novels (5), manga and tv series.  but now I am leaning towards letting Sadako tell her own story, interacting with other characters from the various incarnations. Maybe I can be one of the people so I can give my personal opinions as well.

A few nights ago I watched Ring: Kanzenben which was the first adaptation of Koji Suzuki's novel RING. It was a television movie in Japan, and is very faithful to the novel. It's available on youTube for free (with subtitles) , but if you haven't seen any of the franchise I would recommend RINGU, the first theatrical film directed by Hideo Nakata. There are a number of changes from the novel (and tv movie) but I support the majority of these alterations since they make it a better horror movie and less a procedural with a supernatural antagonist.

I haven't watched any of the Ring movies or read the book, but this is pretty funny. As in droll.
