... So that's basically what I thought were the two factors in what I was experiencing: the almost psychic block against raising a fist, and the desire to learn how to raise my fists and break through that block. It manifested in REM Behavior Disorder.
This meant that I would be dreaming and act out my dreams while asleep, always at a violent point. This isn't like sleepwalking at all. I would generally be dreaming that I was in a situation where someone was antagonizing me until I couldn't take it anymore and lashed out... and that lashing out would actually happen. My boyfriend during this period (Daniel) thought it was amusing, but I was mortified that I had punched him in my sleep and yanked on his arm as if to pull him down to the ground. These actions always resulted in me waking, obviously.
Come to think of it, maybe this is why my dog doesn't like to sleep in my bed all night.
