Added 2017-01-15 01:30:28 +0000 UTCThis fort is (Fort de) Bicetre. There are a number of these around the capitol, built at various times in the nineteenth century. They were built farther and farther out from the city, as artillery range increased, to deny invaders places to point their canons towards Paris.
Stoker places the City of Dust in Montrouge, which is almost directly south of Paris. The terrain between Montrouge and Fort de Bicetre seems to gel with how it is described in this story. The author more than likely made this trek upon his own. It makes me wonder weather the Kingom of Dust had any basis in reality... there is no trace of it to be found online, but that doesn't mean much.
