Burial of the Rats pg 22

Okay so this is my favorite so far...

I guess I have these images in my head and when I pull them off successfully I get all excited.

This is where Stoker begins doing a few crazy things with the story, from a writer's perspective. For instance, it's during this crawl through the mud that the author first states the color of the protagonist's suit; it's lightly colored, and he is in a way thankful for the stumble through the mud for darkening his clothing and making him harder to see during the night time chase. Like I said earlier, I didn't pay much attention to the details of the second part of the story the first time I read it, so I had already given Chauncey a sort of burgundy colored outfit by the time I gleaned this detail. I considered going back and changing the color, but realized that visually, he would not stand out so much in the City of Dust if he's already be the same drab shade as the surroundings.

So fuck it, artistic license.
