Hello me droogs

it's been a year since I launched this page, a year and 5 days to be precise.

I'm going to be rethinking my structuring...

not changing the posts, but the rewards and goals.

patrons have come and gone over the first year, and initial over-exuberance from a few generous souls has died out (and seriously I did not expect anyone to keep up a high paying pledge), so the paypout for me this past year has actually gone down a little since launch, but hovers around the same.

I would appreciate feedback and suggestions from you guys, since you are more core demographic ;)

the new header was an obvious thing to do, but it sure was tough chosing pics. Looking through damaged I find that stuff I thought I had "fixed" before printing still don't look right to me. I guess there's some more fixing to do before the outsourced print.

but what do you think for rewards and goals?

If the demo fits, you gotta graph ic.

Withholding pages is something that often comes up. It's not encouraged by those who are successful with Patreon, and I agree. There should be a whole creation to enjoy and follow, then when encouraged to chip in some will say "why not"? And those who don't may turn others on to the work. So rewards are meant to be gravy. I feel like I myself would be more likely to do become a patron this way than if I could not follow along anyways.

If someone pledged that much I'd imagine they would like my stuff enough to at least let me have some say in the story. Otherwise, I'm tempted to be a kept artist!

What if someone pledged thousands of dollars a month and wanted to be on every page and control the storyline? i'm also worried about the corrupting influence of power and money, but that doesn't seem to be a problem yet at current levels of support.

i like seeing new projects unfold little by little -- the process is interesting and rewarding to watch. But I'm worried that the finished project won't have any element of surprise if we've already seen every page. I'm testing this theory by ordering the paper copy of Damaged. I don't care at all about premiums at different levels, and I'd have to ask my landlord if I can have wallpaper -- I'm just psyched to see Dave happily working on whatever projects come into his mind, and I'm glad to think that I have done my part to help bring new awesome comic literature into the world!

i've never been a "core demographic" before
