Added 2016-02-09 00:24:53 +0000 UTCIt took me a long time to settle on a topic for this piece. I knew I wanted it to be autobiographical, but couldn't decide. Jon Macy suggested it be about interacting with the public at conventions, and what the Prism Comics Queer Press Grant has meant to me. I felt that if I stuck to this and everyone in Alphabet had taken similar advice, it would be a slough of a read. I toyed with excerpts from longer autobio pieces I've wanted to work on, and even roughed out a few about how Star Trek and David Bowie let me down as a gay fan (I kind of wish I'd done the Bowie one now).
Anyways, I'd returned to Jon's suggested theme and worked it into a life's history of convention going.
This page (page 2) stands out as the odd bird, documenting my experiences with the far more judgemental world of tattoo conventions.
