I hesitate to make a geek reference here, but it is a relevant one. The pilot for Deep Space Nine, "the Emissary". The wormhole aliens were perplexed by Sisco's holding on to the memory of the death of his wife. "It's not linear," they kept telling him, and finally he agreed "No, it's not linear".
After 6 months of being stuck in that moment, I was finally able to write this story about it, and Jane, and our time together. The original version was twice as long, but fortunately I have the sense to self-edit content, probably with a bit of help from my Illustration Instructors back at the Academy of Art in SF. Cut out the less relevant stuff and just tell the story!
The upper panel (BTW) is Jane's collar around a wooden statue a friend gave me of a weeping Buddha. I've seen the statue around, most notably at my friend Nash's place back when he lived alone. He may still have his, I don't know. But I left it there to continue feeling my loss for me so I could move on and say, "It's not linear".
