The ashcan Reverie appeared in was what I applied for the Xeric Award with. I thought at the time that I didn't get the grant because of an anti-erotica bias (Reverie was the only story out of five total which was not erotic fiction), but in hindsight I can see that my book just missed the mark. It wasn't cohesive, nor compelling. Perhaps if I'd taken one story and fleshed it out, maybe... I know I could structure a story then, but not necessarily write a decent one. Anyway, the Xeric Award isn't around anymore.
