Added 2015-11-22 23:36:27 +0000 UTCThe world of Judge Dredd has always been a satirical take on American culture by the British, extrapolated 125 years into the future and inflated to ridiculous extremes. In the time since the strip began, the ludicrous authoritarian police state of Mega City One has gone from totalitarian slap-stick to a well thought out society, one that makes sense in the world that has been built up over the decades. After discussing this with fellow comic-book fans, we agree that this could really only have worked because of John Wagner, co-creator and writer of Judge Dredd. He's taken time off periodically from writing Dredd, but only his stuff is considered truly canon, so the world building he has done has stood and not been ret-conned by any other writer.
