A Note to You All
Added 2021-05-17 20:52:23 +0000 UTCA couple months ago we were amazed that we had cleared 1200 backers and were within sight of some of our blue-sky hopes for the audience A More Civilized Age could attract. We were thrilled, a little amazed and a little intimidated by how many people were digging the podcast, and above all we were excited that our launch was going so well. We also expected that for as well as the show was doing, it would quickly level-off in terms of audience and patronage because that's how these things go.
But sometime in the last month, A More Civilized Age started reaching new people. A lot of new people! And that part we can't really take credit for. We were kind of out of ideas about how to promote this thing about three days after the Patreon went live, and besides, we had more important things to worry about, like figuring out what Order 66 was.
But y'all have apparently been generous with us both in terms of leaving kind reviews for the show, but also by directly turning your friends onto the podcast. Because suddenly we're talking to a lot more listeners, and even more you are deciding to back us on Patreon. That's not the usual pattern.
With A More Civilized Age, y'all are actually convincing people to give us a shot and it turns out there are a lot more people than we ever expected who wanted to listen to our weekly tribunal against the Jedi Order. Having that kind of audience is exciting as a creator, and we hope we continue living up to the sales pitches people are making on our behalf, either on reviews pages or to those conflicted Star Wars fans in their lives. There may be a lot of tales the Jedi don't like to tell, but if we keep going like this, we're going to expose all of them.

Your conversations are always thought-provoking. I feel like by the end you will find the essential truth of Star Wars. Good luck, Star Warriors.
