Red is a very complicated colour sometimes. Lot of interpretations. I think it was an extremely deliberate artistic choice to match her ribbons. Blood red claws almost seem a literal 'she has blood on her hands' metaphor.

I sense a story there, whether it's a means of anchoring anything left of her identity, or something more complex. Which would make the decision to use one as a bandage vs. say cutting some cloth from Keiren's cloak very interesting... and for some bonus symbolism it's literally gift wrapped, not tied in a functional knot...
