How could something like this happen? I imagine instead of drifting into fox territory post-banishment, Keith traveled slightly farther north into wolf territory instead. In exchange for nursing him back to health, Natani recruits Keith to "pretend" they're now mates, just to get the family to stop nagging about it. Yep, just pretend, certainly nothing else will come of it.

And...it's almost never pretty, so I understand all who are tired of these people; very unfortunately tho, online and irl. This is classic Narcissistic behavior, whether the world wants to admit it or not. And when it comes to Natani...like I said earlier, just pay attention on who's haggling who here. tl;dr Never, like EVER cared about someone's Sex/Gender before; now i'm being forced to play this game, so I'll definitely keep speaking my mind on this matter.

But this is interpretation - both of us can not be sure what is true for this AU - only Tom knows. But he has ‚build‘ Natani as a man in a womans body so You might not be surprised when I‘m saying I think I‘m right. Two more general points: this format here is far from being suitable for real discussions. And what bothers me most is, how people might act in rl when meeting a trans person. Mutual respect imho is the baseline of any zivilized interaction.

It's definitely a Tomboy characteristic as well, just saying ~ This pic just furthers my own theory that Nattie & the Fam are two different people, black sheep style from personal experience. On the other hand: yes, he is normal, as being trans may be seldom but in no way not normal as it's a biological condition the same as having red hair or finding coriander tasteful and no one has a choice to hinder it. ;) As I do not want to start another war here: there is the book Incognito from David Eagleman (2011) on what determines the "higher" functions of our brain mostly on our conscious and unconscious reactions.

Natani is using Keith as his beard so he can straight pass and avoid coming out to his parents as Transmasc. Of course, the silver lining here is that they still fall in love no matter what universe they’re in, and Natani eventually gets to be as much a trans male here as he’s progressing in the main comic.

IIRC, this is Youngtani grown up - because their parents survived, Zen and Natani never fell in with the assassins and thus never went after the wizard that damaged Natani's soul. Which means no mental link and no Zen-induced gender-confusion. Kind of puts paid to the idea that Natani wasn't at least gender-fluid even before the link. And he still clearly has an issue with acknowledging his attraction to Keith. XD
