Like it's impossible to come out of that section of the story with "acshually Natani is a woman" or whatever other garbage they expunge from their blowholes from as an honest reading. It's ignoring what the story tells them to push their own shitty narrative Thankfully most fans of the comic I've seen don't do mental gymnastics with Natani to justify their transphobia

Why would you think accepting who they are would mean denying that they're trans? What about that part of themself? Why wouldn't that be who they really are? (Also the attack helicopter bit doesn't account for the complexities of brain wiring and chemistry, which can blur somewhere between male and female very easily, but there are no attack helicopter hormones.) Even in the case of Natani, who is a fictional character and not quite a parallel to a real life trans man, the reality of his situation is that he has a male soul, no matter where it came from. Youngtani is only part of the picture - and a part of the picture that liked being masculine to begin with. The rest is still influenced by Zen, and the person that Natani chose to becomeunder that influence. By my reading, accepting who he is means accepting all of that. Maybe that'll change, but at present, it has not.

While admirable to defend that person's choice, in this case the argument is moot because the character is still evolving and he/she/they haven't finalized their arch as yet. Just as in real life, respect their current wishes and don't impose your views/beliefs on others. We often hear the Bible quote "Vengence is mine, sayeth the Lord." We often forget that vengeance requires a judgement of guilt. If vengeance is not ours, then niether is it ours to judge another's moral life choices!

Not only because of how she reached her current state via soul shattering magic, but it also disregards the developments shown with her younger inner self who explained that her rejection of her female identity came more from the gaps Zen filled in that are slowly healing. She even said that she doesn’t mind being a female, but likes being seen as a male, which fits more in line with something like crossdressing than being transgender.

Laura was three steps back from where she was in the original fight in the Basitin capital when she fired her magic arrow that detonated the Templar tower, and those three steps put her just far enough away to allow her to barely survive. She was nursed back to health on the voyage to Edinmire by both Keith and Nats, and the process allowed all three of them a chance to fall for each other.
