I think we are on the line of episodes which are close to iyashikei type of anime — episodes for relax, so it is ok just to enjoy them without big discussions and not feel guilty :)

2026-02-07 14:35:39 +0000 UTCI feel like it might be an unfair comparison to season 1, in that a lot of the main emotional beats were fleshed out/first seen there, and so comparatively diminishes an emotional beat that touches on one from before, as it's not so new and doesn't hit as hard. I feel like the comments about framing, or what not, is more or less actually a commentary on how scenes aren't hitting the same way, when it's hard to compare any scene in this episode to Stark's very emotional backstory, for example. They mention a flashback scene of Stark clenching his hand in the episode he joined the group, and the framing of that scene? But personally, I don't find much at all different in that scene compared to other reflective moments in season 2. I don't recall feeling any sort of wow-factor seeing Stark clench his hand in that scene, I'm kind of lost on what's even being referred to there, to be honest. I think what's missing and what especially makes it feel like a dropoff from the first season, is that season 1 ended with a strong, multi-episode arc that established a number of characters and built on all of them, so the story felt quite cohesive and like it was building to something greater than any individual episode could produce, which it did. We do not yet have such an arc in this season, so the change from then to now feels like stepping backwards, but it's just the nature of the episodic story-telling. This, plus the fact that we don't have the benefit of hitting those emotional beats for the very first time like in season 1 to carry the episodic nature of the show.

Demons are a type of monsters that as explained in season 1, evolved to imitate humans. That's why they are so attuned to magic, and why for them flying and creating spells is no different than walking or breathing. Despite it's appearence, the monster in today's episode it's not a demon.
