2026-02-09 14:27:51 +0000 UTC- Observation Haki was first seen in Skypiea - Conqueror's Haki then actually named for the first time in Jaya - and in Long Ring Long Land the SHs were utterly defeated for the first time (by Aokiji) due to not having Armament Haki Water 7 & the Six Powers only came AFTER all that I think it just comes off as if the idea of the Six Powers were scrapped in favor of Haki โ not just because the latter only got explicitly explained much later โ but also because most of our battles have been against other pirates, who predominantly use Haki... Which imo also further plays into the whole dichotomy that: Pirates, who pursue freedom tend to manifest their power through will, while fodder-Marines, who largely follow orders handed down to them, derive their strength from a martial system that is likewise inherited/institutional rather than self-directed. Itโs no coincidence that high-ranking Marines, who actively pursue their own form of freedom within the confines of the Marines through their own "flavor" of justice, rely on Haki rather than the Six Powers.

2026-02-07 14:44:18 +0000 UTCOda had CP9 agents using all forms of Six powers while referring to it as a training of the body itself for reinforcing. 4 chapters after Lucci's defeat(427-431) he introduces both Garp and the fact that some punches can hurt Luffy with this mysterious power (aka Haki). Meanwhile Lucci could not hurt Luffy with bludgeoning blows unless he used claws or slashes. To me that's the biggest indicator they were meant to be different. But since we stay a while without knowing what is what (until Rayleigh's lesson in Post war), it seems like it was retroactively changed.
