They usually got back up before the arc ended or at the very least, it was never bad enough to warrant death. They also did not have a long speech with a slow mo of them flying up to the sky with an atom bomb while Vivi cried for her loss. Narratively, it was a weak choice to keep Pel alive. Not just because of the fact that he should have died from a hit like that, but because they gave him a super somber send off. Most characters don’t get a big speech before their fake death like that. And just because you didn’t have an issue makes no sense why other people can’t. It was a bad writing choice and they keep bringing it back up whenever they flash to Alabasta. Not everyone who gets badly injured HAS to die. Their point is that the WAY it was written was wayyyyy too much like an actual death such as Ace or Whitebeard or Merry.

2026-01-30 15:22:33 +0000 UTCSo do you want Pell to be permanently dead in OPLA? That’s fine, but why stop there. Permanently kill Chaka, Cobra, Koza, Koza’s dad, and even Karoo. Chaka got slashed and stabbed by Crocodile. Cobra got his palms and shoulders pierced, he can die from blood loss. Koza got shot FIVE fucking times and Koza’s dad could’ve die from the spamming of Crocodile’s sandstorms in Yuba. Karoo dies from a single stray bullet. Show the bullet ridden corpses of the rebel and royal armies because we can presumed that an uprising between 2 million rebel soldiers and 600,000 royal soldiers, there should be massive casualties and yet when the raindrops started, you can still see a huge and massive crowd of millions listening to Cobra’s speech. It’s fine to still be upset at how Pell’s death was reconned because you’re still a fresh fan of the series. That’s your prerogative but, if I can be honest, I do not remember if I had an issue when I was a young boy watching/reading this series. For almost 20 years, to this day now, I have no issue with how that was handle. Vivi didn’t want anyone to die, you can say that was her dream and like a fairy tale, the close people that she loves dearly, along the Straw Hats, they lived and survived and that was a fairy tale ending for her.

While the royal guards were trying out clothes and outfits with the description mentioning '' New clothes for this year's reverie ". I think you read that part but didn't realize back then.
