I largely agree that names should not be translated. There names there meaning is irrelevant.

2026-02-03 16:21:49 +0000 UTCin the spanish subtitles they don't translate them, so i was confused at first whenever english speakers referred to them using the translated names. it isn't a big deal, and I'm used to hearing both now because every reactor just chooses whatever they're the most comfortable with, which is okay

2026-01-14 12:51:19 +0000 UTCI do like they do this flashback, you get to see how strong the mink tribe is as well as the power of jack. I mean the guy fought the mink tribe for 5 days staight, as much as hes a good villain can't help but respect how strong he is.

2026-01-14 12:45:29 +0000 UTCThe Strawhats gaining influence as time goes is really great At the beginning they're just a team of misfits doing stuff here and there isolated And as we progress those events have ramifications that go beyond the expected scope. The return to Sabaody quickly shows the influence of their name alone as the fake strawhats try to claim that for themselves. And they even got people legitimately duped. Through Punk Hazard/Dressrosa/Zou you can see how their actions not only affect the world around them but even some more inside conflicts. Like Doflamingo retiring from the Warlords causing Riku, Rebecca, Toy Soldier/Kyros and the Tontattas to act. Or how they created the occasion with all the warriors seeking the Flame Flame fruit which led to Luffy now having a fleet of his own.

2026-01-14 09:22:57 +0000 UTCThere's also the fact that, in a fandom, people tend to want to communicate with others about the manga they love, but a fandom is international, so it would just be logical for the OP community to use the names that are used in the original Japanese, and almost ALL localizations, instead of Dogstorm and Cat Viper which is an exclusively english-localization thing

2026-01-14 08:52:21 +0000 UTCIt really ain't that serious, but I just think people have a tendency to use non-localized names in general, not out of pretentiousness (*insert white guy in kimono meme*), but because their primary experience of modern-day OP having been through reading the weekly TCB scans (& the following online discourse, which'd obv also use the scanlations' version for names) edit: my dumbass paused it literally 1s before Carson brought it up😭 but yeah case in point
