2025-12-01 18:54:34 +0000 UTCThe Dressrosa arc's length was a significant point of fatigue for many One Piece viewers and readers. Spanning over 100 episodes and 102 chapters focusing a large part of it on action especially towards its later half which was most deffinitly a stark contrast to shorter, 30-50 episode arcs which were the norm and what people were used to at the time. This dramatic change unfortantly led many to stop watching the series all together and even review bomb the story, labeling it as a "a neverending journey that doesn't do much to progress the main plot". Obvously people look back at this sort of critism now as misconstrued, especially with much more future knowledge we understand just how immportant this arc is for setup for the grander narative story. But even today the pacing problems are certainly a negative reception of the arc that remain to this day as a point of critism. I my self am a first time watcher of this arc and well i did not have many issues in the early story due to how oda directed the narative with so many moving pieces which led to alot of unpredictability and many interesting scenerio's, i do now see more specifically what people are reffering to when it comes to "horrible pacing", especially in the later half with these long drown out redundant fight segments. How ever we are approaching the climax of the story soon and like all endings, im sure it will wrap everything up in a satisfying conclusion.
