Ivankov just happened to fight in Marineford was because Luffy revealed he's son of Dragon. No one knows Luffy is Ace's brother aside from the WB pirates, Straw Hats and the Amazon Lily girls at that time. There was little reason for the RA to fight in Marineford. They can target the Navy high authorities while they are fighting the WB pirates but the one faction fighting directly for the WG are CP Agents which are not even there. They can consider tho but remember, the ruined Marine Headquarters wasn't even a big deal after the war. And if we assume Ace being rescued, it would be the Navy's defeat but not the total defeat of the WG.

Unlike Ace and Luffy who are pirates and aren't acting to 'save the world' or something like that, he is part of a group made to throw the government down and basically help the people.

2025-10-22 07:04:51 +0000 UTCWhen it comes to why the Revolutionnary didn't join the war in Marineford, I think this is a trap many fall into as they stick to Ivankov's misinformed reading of the situation. Iva was the one thinking if Ace and Luffy are related then Dragon wouldn't let his son be executed and would join in. Except, A - They're not related B - Nobody knew Luffy was coming the same day So from a personal interest Dragon had no reason to come. Which Iva realized when Luffy revealed Ace's father is Roger. And for the Revolutionnary army as a group, yes this is a war but not theirs. And Iva again mentioned that ''It's not the moment yet'' for him to escape Impel Down so he'd rather stay, until he met Luffy thinking Ace is also Dragon's son and etc.
