Carson said last episode when the Birdcage first went up and Doffy then activated his Parasite attack to make everyone start killing each other "why bother doing this when everyone is already trapped" because it's obviously overkill of him - but, unfortunately, that is the point. Doffy genuinely might be the most evil character in the entire series, I think. I don’t necessarily mean that in terms of deeds (because that’s subjective since some people see certain crimes as “worse” than others) or body count (because there’s genuinely no way to know). I mean that in terms of him genuinely doing horrific stuff he doesn’t have to do just because he LOVES doing horrific stuff to people. Other villains do horrific stuff mainly because they just want some sort of reward out of it (money, status, fame, etc.) and, sure, Doffy likes those things too — but the thing with him is that he's repeatedly shown thus far that seeing people suffer as a result of him doing horrific stuff… THAT’S his main reward. Other villains might not have a problem with making random people they have no actual connection to/beef with suffer or even gloating about it, but if those people weren't in their way, they probably wouldn't have even cared enough to bother in the first place. But Doffy? No, he actively LOVES it. Marineford is a good example; there was no reason for him to do any of the things he did - he could have insta-killed people in so many infinitely less cruel ways, but he chose to make them slaughter each other first. He's like the grownup, infinitely more psychotic version of the little kid burning ants with a magnifying glass for no real reason other than because he likes the thrill of it. 100000/10 villan and character writing, but.... god lol.
