Fate/Zero Ep 11 UNCUT REACTION!

I definitely recommend you guys watch the movie Excalibur from 1981 in your free time. It's a pretty faithful retelling of the legend of King Arthur. It really gives context to Saber's whole story if you have that in the back of your mind and is sorta referenced here and there with her

I agree though: Rider’s worldview is limited to him, his followers, and his time period. I’d probably still want a ruler like Saber.

Loved the discussion. This is a scene I think about all the time Saber wanted to live a life that was entirely just/pure and she can’t stomach her country falling under her own rule. It’s noble to want a ruler to be a paragon of virtue for their subjects but 99% of people don’t live perfect lives where everything they do is righteous and perfect so why would anyone believe that she could do it? Why would anyone follow her if they know that perfection is almost impossible to achieve? Why would they throw their lives away knowing that the next day their ruler will come out, regret sending them out to fight in the first place, and then beg forgiveness from everyone? She inspires perfection but no one knows wtf that looks like. She’s also basically saying “yeah I’m fine with 99% of my rule but that last 1% is enough to ruin it all” she’s willing to completely negate/dismiss the lives contained in that 99% Rider’s saying: your subjects are human (imperfect), as the king you’re a reflection of your people meaning you’re also imperfect. People make mistakes and still end up living normal fulfilling lives so why should a single mistake be enough to ruin everything for you? If you choose a path in life, see it through to the end. Live life resolutely. You can’t be a ruler if you’re gonna second guess yourself and crumble when you make a mistake.

It's one thing to disagree with rider, but what can you say when the guy runs around with 30 charisma and tells you his noble phantasm's the friends we made along the way? Edit (minor spoiler): I'm pretty sure Rider can in fact have his soldiers manifest in the real world. I'm not sure what the limitations are but I remember he uses it for a minor part in a later episode.

I have always found that Iskandar is far less sympathetic than his magnetic and fun personality gives on first impression. If you look at What he says and not How, he´s a straight up villain.

Indeed best episode, at least in first season 🔥 It’s especially bitter for Saber because most legends about King Arthur end in betrayal by half the Round Table and a devastating civil war. Now, she sees another king with completely different beliefs who still commands incredibly loyal followers. It doesn't necessarily mean Rider is right, but it definitely touches a nerve and brings up her own regrets Great discussion at the end of episode, thank you
