Not everyone has Kizaru as a personal favorite, but I feel like you two are the only ones I’ve seen who actively consider him as a hatable character. I feel like Kizaru’s mannerisms y’all seem to not like are what endear most people to his character.

Regarding the aura of the Grandline and all its hype etc, one thing that One Piece does that is unusual as far as stories go is a very natural travelling of words. If a few characters early on in the series hype up the Grandline even though they haven't been there themselves, how much of their word should you believe? If side characters are talking about something that happened years ago or in a different sea, how reliable is their information vs someone like Aokiji talking about it? One Piece uses the Telephone Game "chain of exaggeration" effect in a very natural way and it's something that newcomers to the series don't grasp quickly (which is fine). And of course this could just be used by Oda to conveniently change the plot a bit across periods of time but it does makes logical sense in the context of an entire world

Also thats not even his best, you forget about "Galaxy Wink" which is the strongest attack you have seen yet from him. It's the ultimate variation of the Newkama Kenpo Also oda embraces the idea of taking abnormal characters and making them immportant.

2025-05-05 09:40:51 +0000 UTCThe more I've watched Enies Lobby its gone from an S to an A for me. Some of the best moments with Robin and Merry stuff and gear2/Lucci fight but the rest is meh to me. The weirdly paced fights drops it down for me and its so much better in the manga. And an arc tier list pre time skip would be sweet.

2025-05-05 06:35:04 +0000 UTCI think oda in his head always used some form of restraint not to overly complicate the story to deeply because at these early stages the audience wasn’t ready for that yet so he instead set up these these kind of basic caricatures established that would be the introductions of characters in one piece and that’s probably why alot of it feels very basic respective to their introductory arcs but as you see the world and experience the full scope and breadth of the lore and plot, these same characters will return eventually with far more multi-tier writing and interconnected plot lines, giving it a more complicated dynamic. The Summit war saga is essentially the first realization of that as you dive into the next phase of the plot with the new world. Things only get even more interesting. This is also a major milestone point so its appropriate.
