I can't believe what was supposed to be a 3 days split-up ended up being all of this. Dadan to Luffy and Ace always felt to me like Mito-san was to Gon. Yet another Jinbei banger. You just know when he the camera focuses on him and the sad music kicks in, some life-changing bars are gonna be spat.

Even at the beginning he feels aware of what the 'ideal' pirate(in One Piece's context) should be. And here again he's bridging the generations and watching over Luffy's growth. A growth that'll someday lead back to him and their promise. He also feels like a safeguard for the world. Fun Fact A shank is the vertical shaft of an anchor. It contains the balancing band that allows the anchor to stay, well, balanced. Which is interesting cuz Kid Luffy in the first chapter/Ep4 was wearing an Anchor shirt during the bar scene with Shanks.
