Been awhile since I designed an LED weapon prop. I had to rethink my design process to make this more feasible to make and better to handle. Thankfully, I have done it. The Frostblade from the Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been on my radar for a while, actually, all of the elemental blades have been, just didn't really have any idea how to make it easier to print, assemble, and handle....until now.
First off, there is no Arduino programming necessary for this. This uses a simple USB LED Strip with a cylindrical power bank that is tucked down into the hilt. A remote control turns on and off the LEDs so if you want to mount this on your wall and make it a wall lamp then have at it.
Secondly, the printing process is super easy and the assembly process requires little to no glue. True story, the fit is so snug, that holding it and handling it didn't seem to be wobbly or unstable at all. I still haven't glued it lol. So that choice is yours.
I do plan on doing the other blades because I want them all hanging in my office. Not sure about the bigger versions of these but if you want them let me know.
Also, you can build this without LEDs. If you want it to glow, use some glow in the dark blue PLA. The hollowed out design will make it more lightweight for you to handle at comic cons. So please, enjoy :)
The LEDs and power bank I used can be found below. Keep in mind if you use my LEDs you will need to cut off the connector casing to have it fit down into the hilt.
