A Note on Various Worlds Part I

Some of you may have noticed a theme going on with various regiments and worlds in terms of cultural things. Here I am going to be explaining some of the stuff that hasn't been outright stated about certain worlds that I am using in this fic, where Canon is ambiguous or silent.

Koskenkorva: Settled by Greek Immigrants, Koskenkorva had a society that was heavily inspired by Ancient and Medieval Greece.

The Ruler of Koskenkorva, for instance, was the Archon, which was the title of various Rulers of various Ancient Greek city-states and which the Byzantine Empire of the Medieval Period used to describe foreign Kings, such as the Bulgarian Tsars. It survived into the twenty-first century as an Ecclesiastical Title in the Greek Orthodox Church. The Holders of the Title of Archon up until the incorporation into the Barony and the Grand Duchy of New Ålborg were the House of Konstantinos. After submitting to Jozef, they became Barons of Koskenkorva instead.

Likewise, various place names and surnames of Koskenkorva tend to be Greek, such as the Capital City of Elysium, named after the Elysian Fields of Greek Myth, or the current Colonel of the Seventh Guards Regiment, recruited from Koskenkorva, Colonel Dimitriou.

Koskenkorva Cuisine has a distinctly Greek Flavor to it, though adapted to fit local norms. For instance, there are no Anchovies on Koskenkorva to make Gavros Marinatos with, so the locals use Koskenkorva Silverfish which are a type of freshwater fish found in various rivers and lakes on Koskenkorva that taste similarly. Ouzo is a large component as well, though the variety of Grapes grown on Koskenkorva were genetically modified to be able to handle Koskenkorva's colder winters.

Lackhove: Lackhove was settled by people hailing from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and a portion of Northwest India running roughly from Ladakh to Gujarat. Accordingly, it has a distinctly South Asian Flavor.

The ruling house, the House of El-Fadil, hails from Afghanistan, though notably, they are Arabs rather than Pashtun, having come to Afghanistan in the distant past and settled in Balkh. The House of El-Fadil often has its male members take officer positions in the Military of Lackhove, both the former Lackhove Auxiliary Battalions, where the Nephew of the Current Baroness, Haroun El-Fadil served as one of the Majors, and the current Sixth Guard Regiment, whose Colonel, Mahmoud El-Fadil, is the brother of the current Baroness.

This military duty is a tradition that the House of El-Fadil shares with the Pashtun, Baloch, and Sikh Minorities on Lackhove. Percentage-wise, more Sikhs, Balochs, and Pashtuns enter military service than any other ethnic group living on Lackhove, though the majority of the Economic power of Lackhove tends to be concentrated in the hands of either the Gujarati and Marwari Communities.

Religiously, the overwhelming majority of Lackhove are either Sunni Muslims or Hindu, with the next most populous religions being Shia Muslims, Buddhists, and Sikhs. There is a very small Jainist population, primarily among ethnic Gujarati and Marwaris.

Lackhove is the most ethnically and religiously diverse planet within the Grand Duchy of New Ålborg at present making a distinct Lackhove culture difficult to parse outside of generalities. The planet has thirty-two different ethnicities and six separate religions, not counting the irreligious. The planet makes it work largely based on a shared past of colonial struggle amidst the Coreward Periphery.

Battaraigi: Battaraigi is one of two worlds in the Grand Duchy that were primarily settled by Polynesians. Along with Erewhon, the two worlds form a unique cultural carveout in the primarily European or South Asian cultures that make up much of the worlds of the Coreward Periphery.

The overwhelming majority of the settlers of Battaraigi have Maori, Hawaiian, Tongan, Fijian, or Samoan Ancestry. This was the case when the world was settled and culturally, this remains the case today, with Baron Fuamatu of Bataraigi insisting on the slow integration of various immigrants. This was such that the veritable tsunami of immigrants that have come to the Grand Duchy had a lot of the total assigned to Battaraigi settled on the World's habitable moon, which the locals of Battaraigi call Kanaka Hele but which the recently settled populous of the moon, a large majority of which are Ethnic Germans from places such as Stanzach, Memmingen, Gunzburg, and Heligendreuz call Neu Leipzig.

As such, Neu Leipzig has a markedly different culture than Battaraigi does. Many of the hallmarks of the Polynesian Cultures that make up Battaraigi, such as various cultural dances like Haka or Hula, a shared mythos involving figures such as Maui, and the like exist on Battaraigi but not on Neu Leipzig. Instead, Neu Leipzigers are more fond of Biergartens and Football. Ironically, there is one particular cultural activity that is shared between both populations. Both Neu Leipzigers and Battaraigi Locals both enjoy wrestling.

Indeed, wrestling has gone a long way toward bridging the cultural divide between the immigrant population of Neu Leipzig and the locals on Battaraigi, with tournaments, exhibitions, and meets being held at the recently completed Unity Stadium on Battaraigi.

This is a interesting bit of backstory and I hope it gets its moment to shine in story
