I feel that he suppressed his emotions and took a bit to let his guard down going to Jujutsu high. I did see in the jjk movie entrance ceremony photo gojo was happy with long hair, but Idk i just personally feel like he wouldn’t been that bubbly? Especially based on Gege sketch of him on his coming of age ceremony right before going to jjk high.
BUT those are just my thoughts! To me gojo finally had some freedom but took some time to open up.
