2024-09-26 14:19:40 +0000 UTCI like Rory (always liked her), but I also think that just leaving without any notice was pretty rude of her, no matter how right or wrong Emily and Richard may have been in their attempts to "take care of her". She stayed almost 6 months at their house, enjoyed all the comfort and support she was given, and then just takes off without saying a word. That has to be hurtful, esp. for Emily (since she had the argument with her primarily). And yes, the scene during her "looking at a plane" was not Emily's best moment, but I love seeing her vulnerability, and also that Lorelai seems to see it, too, it's just a tender moment. Therefore.... "and you haven't lost me".

Lorelai is their daughter (and by definition lives with them), Rory is the granddaughter and was taken in when in difficulty. Lorelai had just had a child at 16, Rory just took time off of college. And the list goes on....

2024-09-25 23:12:28 +0000 UTCthis is why i don't understand why people despise rory for taking a break from yale- it lasts literally 9 episodes. it feels longer for sure but it really isnt that serious, she did exactly what she was hoping for; she took a break, figured out what she wanted, and pulled herself out of her slump and now is back in school and has a job. its literally what being 21 is for. yes she made mistakes and went about things the wrong way, but alls well that ends well (and wasnt even that bad to begin with)

I also don't like the space it inevitably takes up in the show that could've been entertaining ends up being a drag for me. Rory being childish makes sense she played the responsible grown up her whole childhood so those months of her regressing bc everything didn't go to plan was her freak out of omg what if I can't do it like everybody told me? Plus it's natural students experience the stress of higher education and buckle under pressure/give up.
