I have doubts over the parents planning on killing them too. But I don't think Lyle "made it up". I think they were so paranoid, they were thinking in extremes and truthfully thought that in the moment and after.

I'm suspicious of the parents planning killing them that Sunday. I think maybe Lyle made that up so that Erik would do it with him. (Personally I don't think they needed an excuse)

Ugh yeah lyle’s taped phone calls did happen, and it wasn’t an ex or gf he was talking to. it was this woman called norma novelli who told him she’d help him write a book about his experiences (it’s actually released) 💀 Lyle was definitely too trusting and I honestly don’t think he knew he was being recorded because he sounds pretty “chill” on the tapes. But he did NOT say the things the way it was portrayed in the show at all. Irl it wasn’t too incriminating in my opinion. He basically said he gets very emotional talking about things and that’s how he believes he can “move a jury”, he never said anything about fooling them or acting. He even literally says that he’s just gonna be himself on the stand. I don’t get why they would twist it and portray it like he admitted to lying and being a douche.

Yeah the testimonies are all on tape, it was all broadcasted on TV back then. You can find all testimonies on youtube. The actors did a great job but neither of them even captured the true emotion that Lyle and Erik showed during the hardest part of their testimonies :( watching them talk about the abuse truly was painful, I don’t get people who say it’s acting, they would both be oscar worthy then

This episode stressed me the fuck out. They were really pushing the Erik is gay story here and it pissed me off so bad. I know thats what the prosecutors said to try to spin it but thats why it is so frustrating. Men who got abused sexually by their fathers must mean the person is gay according to them. He couldn't just be a victim. UGH. Also Nicholas who plays Lyle, he was absolutely incredible in that court scene. Both of the actors playing Lyle and Erik will go far i can feel it.
