I will say a lot of the reason why people hate Rory for this is because everyone around her cannot seem to admit she did anything wrong and blames everyone else. So they direct it to Rory. But that is cause they expect her to be perfect and she is just a very good example of a normal confused 20 year old. If you actually see, she admits to the wrongs herself and also knows that she was immature for how she reacted to what Mitchum said, so I do think she shows some level of self awareness with some ignorance to her privilege but thats just an imperfect character for you. Audience just expect too much out of her and then hated her as soon as she did not act like 16 year old she was

I completely empathise too, that said I do think it's what makes Rory unlikable in writing for a lot of people. She can't see her own privilege and reacts the way someone who has never faced true adversity would act.

wow i have SO MUCH to say but I love your reaction and agree with pretty much all of it. First of all I think if there was a Rory hate moment it is usually this for people, or the cheating with Dean - but I think overall the hate for Rory comes through people rewatching and noticing the exact pattern your bring up here of her acting childish, and when she was a child it felt like her growing up but at some point it becomes clear that she was always praised and doesn't know how to handle being wrong or criticised (i mean even going back to when she was with Dean and into Jess but not wanting Dean to hate her for example). Rory breezes through things and when she has to face them she's not like Paris who works harder, she typically puts in minimum effort. She's privileged without wanting to admit it. Which brings me to second of all this is where Logan gets so much hate for being a rich asshole who doesn't get Rory back to Yale and I argue that this was ALL RORY, Logan has never had a girlfriend, the relationship is new, and he treats her like an adult. But Logan warned Rory about his dad, tried to stand up for her (and even you agreed that he shouldn't have to when Rory is overreacting), and went rogue with her because she asked him to even though he was at his sister's engagement party. And yet Lorelei and show fans will say he should've stopped her and gotten her on track and he's a bad influence. It does my head in.

I think the way rory was constantly praised by everyone growing up really didn’t help her in this situation. always being the golden only child. then she hears something so direct from someone she looks up to. i can empathize with her tbh.

Joe, Someone may have already responded to your question posed in your video. Just in case they haven’t, Amy Sherman-Palladino is still at the helm of GG in season 6. Also, for me, it took me a few rewatches to decide on a favorite season(s), preferred mates, etc. And even with Lorelai and Rory, no matter how many times I rewatch GG, I am often more invested in one of them in S1-S3 and then the other one in S4-S6, and then them both equally S7.

I was waiting for this one 🥲
