2024-07-14 02:43:01 +0000 UTCI love George's monologue, because while it's true that Richard can't just pass him, it's also true that Richard gave everybody second chances for worse things, and yet he knew George failed by a single point and never thought to let him retake the test. Meredith left hers blank and Richard let her retake it because she was going through something. George was also spiraling, with his father's death and his relationship with Callie/Izzie, and he was the one who went to bat for Meredith and told Richard she left her test blank so she could retake it. He never did the same for himself. Izzie cut a man's LVAD wire and wasn't fired. Cristina and Burke were endangering patients every single day and lying about it, but she got a second chance. So yeah, while Richard couldn't pass him, I do think he could have let George retake the test as soon as he found out he failed by a point.

The whole scene in the hospital where he's crying to izzie saying he's been through this before makes me tear up every time LOL. I really just think it was a trauma response for him to instinctively want to take care of Ava.
