2023-08-12 17:44:29 +0000 UTCI really love this episode for many reasons. For one thing, Lorelai really shined. Not only did she handle everything well but the Yale thing showed growth on her part. She was so against Yale at the start of the season because that's where Richard went but now, she just wants Rory to be happy, even if that means she goes to Yale. I love how all the town came together to help out and I feel like Lorelai and Sookie needed some type of catalyst to move forward with their dream to own their own inn. It was clearly rough on Lorelai though because that has been her home for so long. Luke was great this episode and Jess is clearly hiding something. I felt like there was a lot of storyline progress this episode.

2023-08-10 19:16:06 +0000 UTCThe fire sucks. For Lorelai that was the first place she ever really felt at home. She lived there for years in the potting shed, raised Rory there. You can see on her face how much it hurt her to see it like that. Papaya the cat is so cute! The cute Yale set up from Lorelai was so adorable and it showed Rory that ultimately, she just wants her daughter to be happy. Jess, for a smart guy, he's a real dumb ass! I feel like he could of just graduated early. If Jess went to Luke and asked for help in maybe graduating early, Luke would help him! But instead he decides the best course of action is to just not go? Stupid. Then to make it worse he's lying about it. Lyndsey and Nicole's cold attitude is kinda shitty. Rory already made it clear to Dean that she's happy for him and that she thinks Lyndsey is a great girl, so being standoffish with her is weird. Same with Nicole. Mrs. Kim with the bat gets me every time. Look, I think they are funny when they appear, but holy shit Louise and Madelyn are TERRIBLE FRIENDS to Paris! The fact Rory is so sweet to Paris, even bringing her the coursework and reluctantly confirming Paris's suspicions, while encouraging her to see what other great schools have accepted her, is so great of her, especially when you think about how fucking awful Paris has been acting to her for the last few weeks/months (Time is weird in shows!). I always get frustrated when People say that Rory didn't deserve Harvard over Paris. Yes, she did! Paris was too intense and came across a little manic and borderline aggressive in her interview. While we didn't hear Rory's we've seen her before charm intellectual people, so I have no doubt she nailed her own interview. People have to remember Rory went from bottom of the class to top in less than a year! That takes serious commitment! She has more than proven herself at Chilton and is just as smart as Paris, she's just not as intense about her goals as Paris is, but that doesn't mean she isn't as focused. Honestly, the best thing for Paris was to be rejected, because it breaks her out from under all of that pressure to follow in the family's footsteps. Now she can forge her own path without that hanging over her head.
