She has probably rolled her eyes time and time again seeing other girls go for guys like Jess, and she's never understood why. Now it's happening to her and it feels very "un-Rory like" to herself. So she's probably wondering what's "wrong" with her, and also trying to deny the feelings she clearly has. On top of that, she probably is having trouble justifying to herself any "legitimate" reasons for why she isn't as into Dean anymore. He's the safe guy, that makes complete sense for her to be with (according to her preconceptions of herself), and yet for some reason she's finding that she doesn't want that. She's definitely extremely confused.

2023-05-17 17:35:16 +0000 UTCWhenever Lorelai or Lane talk about Dean to Rory her whole demeanor changes that you actually can feel that it's getting awkward. I think Rory stays with Dean because Lorelai loves him and dislikes Jess and she hates disappointing her mom. Not healthy but I can see that being the reason.
