I mean, it's one of the main things about Klaus, he's terrified of his family abandoning him. It's one of the reasons he daggers them so much, to keep them with him. (He failed at that with Elijah there by giving him away... Haha) So Marcel, who Klaus loves as a son, allowing him to think he was dead for about 100 years would be a huge abandonment to him... I mean, we saw him find out he's still alive back in 4x20 of TVD. That was when he found out he was still alive. And Marcel said it'd been about 100 years. So yeah, they all went around a century mourning him, just to find out that he'd not only survived, but had been having a great time without them. That has gotta hurt... (But honestly, the relationship between Klaus and Marcel is one of my favourites of the entire TVDU... It's so interesting to me...)#
