I deeply dislike Alicent, she is too high and mighty and very hypocritical! She wanted her father back as hand no matter the cost, then when she learned the cost, she feigned innocence and pretended that was not what she wanted. Plus, she insists on trying to convince the King that Rhaenyra's children are bastards knowing it will cost Rhaenyra and her children their lives.

She wanted to marry daemon and get rid of laenor because of course she loved daemon but also because with daemon as her husband people won’t try to to challenge her once viserys dies. She’s loved laenor but it’s a different type of love, that’s why they didn’t want to kill him. And yes with this show you can’t really take sides, of course majority of people are going to take rhaenyra side because she’s “good”. But alicent has points too.
