Bonnie doesn't take the blame for the things she does. Damon, at least admits when he is wrong. He's done terrible things but he doesn't blame someone else for it. Plus, Damon didn't actually kill the carnival guy, Caroline did.

She is the one who lied about the device not working, which is what caused Tyler to lose control of the car, and is why Caroline would of died without Damon healing her. Damon isn't innocent, not by a long shot, but Bonnie also has some blame with this.
