I saw the original cast while the show was still in previews in july of 2015 as part of a musical theater camp. There was no buzz about the show yet because it hadn't opened so i didn't know what i was walking into except i knew the work of lots of the actors and knew In The Heights, Anyway, I actually was chosen by the camp director to go backstage and meet the cast afterwards along with like 4 other kids and I shook Lin's hand and said that it was the best show ive ever seen in my life and he told me he was glad people my age were loving it (cuz i was in highschool at the time). To this day, that's probably the most surreal thing that's happened to me. When the show opened, I flew back to new york with my mom to see it because i knew she wouldn't want to miss out on seeing that show with that cast. The recording is great but i'd recommend seeing it live to whoever has the means to.

As you may have guessed this was filmed live on the broadway stage with a live audience in 2015. Lin Manuel-Miranda wrote the play and he also plays ALexander Hamilton. It took him 7 years to write it.
