Buffy really wanted thanksgiving to go perfectly...

It was handled terribly imo. But maybe the TV wasn't ready for anything more.

Major expectation spoilers dude! He doesn't need to know which episodes are supposed to be amazing before he watches them, it's always way more fun to be surprised by them as a first-time viewer. I'm sure I remember Joe saying before that he'd prefer not to know stuff like that. I get that for us fans it's really exciting to see episodes we love coming up, but I feel like it spoils the surprise of an unexpectedly fantastic episode a lot of the time.

The native american stuff was a bit awkward but progressive for the year 2000 I guess lol. Spike is iconic in this ep tho haha

I don't care for this episode at all. I can't pinpoint why exactly - there's nothing clearly wrong with it, and a lot of people love it, but it's definitely in my bottom 20 Buffy episodes (which, tbh, is a testament to how great the show is). Never one that I look forward to rewatching, so I'm glad it's done!

because her mum went to her aunts, and Buffy is missing how life used to be - before college, before adulthood, before slaying. 'I can't help it. I smell a roasting turkey and I'm 8 years old again!' She's just trying to simultaneously recapture those fun, easy times back in her younger years, and reclaim it with her new 'extended family' - the scoobies. She wants it to be wholesome and perfect like how she remembers, but also as a way of being an adult and being able to do it like her mum does.

This episode is one of my favorites. It is sooo hilarious and funny. There are definitely aspects of it that are problematic that don’t age well, but as a whole it’s amazing. Xander letting it slip that Angel was there at the end, is so typical him 😂. My favorite scene is Spike screaming about the bear while tied to the chair. The visual gag of him trying to get loose was SOO funny. My only criticism is that I wish they dived a bit into why Buffy wanted thanksgiving dinner so badly. It wasn’t properly explained.

I love this episode it’s so funny, I died when Xander threw the potato’s at the bear 😂 That final shot is so iconic! I love that the arrow is stuck in the pilgrim at the table and Spikes smile is just hilarious. Also It’s very important to remember that no matter how charismatic he is Spike is still a soulless vampire. He is very different from the others though and it’s sometimes hard to remember that even for me because I love him so much. I can’t wait till next week for more! Your Buffyverse reactions are really getting me through this quarantine! Thank you ♥️
