Thank you for another great reaction!!! I'm always so excited to see you've posted a new reaction for Once Upon a Time. :) And I really love this episode a lot. It's another one of my absolute favorite episodes from season one. For one, I really love that we get a backstory and an origin for Jiminy Cricket, which we've never gotten before in any fairytale version of Pinocchio. Also, I really love Archie's character a lot. He's definitely and easily one of my favorite of the non main characters. And Raphael Sbarge, who plays Archie/Jiminy is a very talented actor, who I really, really like. As for why Jiminy didn't feel like he could leave his parents despite being somewhere in thirties within the past storyline... his parents were extremely manipulative and verbally abusive... so much so, that Jiminy came to hate the man he was and more so, the life he was trapped in. Sadly, he saw himself to be as they were, when in truth Jiminy was a good man who simply wanted to be free. I really love this about him and the parallel into the Storybrooke world as it reveals that Jiminy was a man who took a long time to finally realize who he wanted to be like Henry tells Archie. The backstories do focus on certain characters, not just to introduce us to them and to show why they are who they are. but the stories also parallel to what's going on within the Storybrooke storylines too, just like this episode does really well. And I love the parallels. As for why Jiminy went to Rumplestiltskin to deliver to him some of the trinkets he and his parents stole... it isn't really explained, but Rumple is a character who has his hands in everything and dealings with everyone in some form or another, and chances are, Jiminy's parents have some sort of deal with him where they have to give him a certain kind of percentage of all they steal. He is Jiminy's parents' fence essentially. Plus... in Storybrooke, Gold has all kinds of trinkets inside his pawnshop that all came over in the curse from the Enchanted Forest, though because they are the Land Without Magic, none of these items have maintained their magical properties. Now... I really love how Jiminy wished to become a cricket so he could escape from his parents. They would keep searching for him as a man, never thinking to look for him in the disguise of a cricket. I think this is essentially the idea as to why Jiminy felt becoming a cricket was a good idea. Plus... he simply loves the creatures. Also... I love that we get to see more of the Blue Fairy again too, as she comes down from the sky to grant Jiminy's wish. Not only does him being a cricket allow for him to escape from his life, but it allows for him to be free so he can continue to help the young boy, who we learned is Geppetto, whose parents suffered from Jiminy's parents' cruelty and the potion given to him from Rumplestiltskin. Sadly, this potion back fired and turned Geppetto's parents into wooden puppets. Scary wooden puppets too, that we see in the very end within Gold's shop. The reason why Rumple wanted to take them is never explained, but he has his reasons for everything. Also... seeing his parents as puppets most likely instilled the fascination and need in Geppetto to learn how to carve figures and puppets from wood, as he grows into the man we know him to be from Pinocchio. It's brilliant. I absolutely love this parallel to Geppetto carving Pinocchio out of wood as well. :) Oh... and in answer to your question about Archie's close friend shown in the end talking with Archie, and throughout the episode... yes, he is Geppetto, which makes Archie actually older than Geppetto since they had met when Geppetto was just a boy. And they've been together ever since Geppetto was a boy. I love that Jiminy wants to help the boy, like Jiminy Cricket is known for being Pinocchio's conscience in the Disney movie and fairytale of Pinocchio. And I love that Jiminy and Archie has come to be Geppetto's and Marco's closest friend. Now... I love the entire storyline for Archie in this episode. I really felt badly for him when Regina threatens him if he doesn't crush Henry's "delusion". But I love, love, love how he stands up to her in the end and tells her that he's going to continue to help Henry the way his conscience sees fit. Definitely one of my favorite moments in this episode. It's most definitely an Emma moment for Archie. :) I love the overall storyline between Archie and Henry, as Henry helps him to remember who Archie feels he wants to be while they're trapped inside the collapsed mine, after Archie shatters his spirit in a low blow after Regina's threat, and it breaks Archie to do so. You can see the pain and regret on his face right away. However, his weakness makes him human and I love seeing all sides of this incredible character. It also gives Henry more of a resolve to find proof in what he's been trying to tell everyone. But more than this... I love that Henry shows Archie that he is truly a good man in spite of Archie believing otherwise his whole life. Beautiful. I think it's wonderful that Henry has right away allowed Archie to be in on Operation Cobra too, because it shows just how much he cares about Archie, and how much Archie means to him. It also shows how much Archie cares about Henry too. This is why Archie's words to him really crushed him. Yes... I'm sure that he sensed somewhat that what Archie told him about being crazy were words coming from his adopted mother because she might have threatened him, but because Archie means so much to him, the pain from the words Archie spoke to him hurt him even more. And then... the mine is continuing to collapse and Archie and Henry enter inside of an old elevator shaft to try to get out, but in another collapse, the elevator falls and the ground beneath them gives way a little more, trapping them within the shaft, as the elevator's about to collapse. As for Pongo... Pongo is from Disney's 101 Dalmatians and I love this too. And Pongo is important in Archie's life. For the creators and writers, Archie seemed like the right choice to be his owner and he really is. Pongo is so cute!!! I really like how Pongo helps everyone working to save Henry and Archie from the mine by locating where they are. And I love how everyone comes together from the town to save them. At last... Emma volunteers to be lowered into the shaft to help them out and the elevator is about to fall. I love that Archie uses his umbrella... said back in the episode, The Thing You Love Most, to be Archie's lucky charm. This is proven to be true when his umbrella is what saves his life, as it allows him to grab onto one of the rings hanging on Emma's belt. And then... the crickets begin chirping in Storybrooke because Archie finds the will to stand up to Regina. I love how him finding it in him again to be who he really wants to be, and Emma choosing to stay on as Deputy and making roots for herself makes more changes, and continues to weaken the curse. As for the scenes between David and Mary Margaret... I absolutely love them. I especially love the moment when David states he feels like he's woken up in some strange land, which is certainly the truth, given that he fell unconscious from being severely wounded just before the curse brought them over from the Enchanted Forest to Storybrooke as their cursed selves. And more so... I love the moment David declares that Mary Margaret is the only thing... the only person who feels real. So beautiful. Unfortunately, Kathryn keeps getting in the way. And lastly... as for what's shown down at the bottom of the mine after Regina and Henry both find the shards of glass, which Regina then drops down into the mine in the end... we see Snow White's shattered glass coffin. It's seen so quickly, so I thought I would share what it was we see in case you missed it. Overall... I love this episode very much for the uniqueness of Jiminy Cricket's origin story. I can't wait for more!!! Thank you so much again!!! Until next time...

That was the glass coffin that snow white was in. So yeah there was proof after all. I know henry is annoying as a youngling, but I dont think the elevator scene with him and Jiminy was that bad acting wise it was one of his better scenes.
