Idk I think Rachel is a better singer. Has far more range and ability, but there's no denying that Mercedes has an amazing voice too.

Mercedes is the best vocalist in that group. She can do things with her voice that Miss Rachel Berry just ain´t able to bring to the table but she gets paid dust. Absolute dust. I completely agree with her this episode and understand why she switched groups because she deserves to do more than background vocals. The episode showed that she was better than Rachel, everyone knew it but they still didn´t give her the role. You´re absolutely right that it was a cope out. And I love Rachel. I prefer her character mostly bc Mercedes doesn´t get much to do but I love Rachel. And she is talented, a fantastic singer and so ambitious. She works hard and deserves so much but the way Will coddles her and just gives her absolutely everything and ignores everyone else is trash

The big Mercedes tantrum number is an iconic song from the musical Dreamgirls, which her boyfriend referenced earlier in the episode. Fun fact. Amber Riley actually ended up playing Effie White (the character whose song she sang) on London's west end. Won a bunch of awards That said, Mercedes pissed me off. I don't like her boyfriend. She feels entitled without doing the work. Rachel at least busts her arse to be as good as she is, thus earning her entitlement...

Mercedes is a great singer but she had this sense of angry entitlement solely based on that one talent, as if starring as the lead in a musical is solely about singing ability. She can’t dance and she can’t act and she didn’t fit the part. And there was no reason for her to make Rachel feel like shit because she got the role of Maria. And Rachel shouldn’t have felt so guilty for getting the part. That’s not how show business works.

I was waiting for him to recognize Mikes mom from teen wolf. She played Kira’s mom. Also, the song that Mercedes and the group sang was not original, it was from the broadway show Dreamgirls. It does fit that scene so well though!

mercedes really pissed me off this episode. rachel can be attention seeking but damn girl she's picked for a reason. they're not gonna pick you just because you haven't had the spotlight in a while. she was getting the same time as rachel which even she thought was fair but she had to quit instead. and the whole knocking stuff over saying she "outgrew" everyone is so childish. sorry i just do not like mercedes lmaooo. she is so talented but an awful character
