Another update

Hey folks, I wanted to give everyone an update on my recovery. The good news is that, despite my complications—which will require surgical correction in a few months’ time—I am getting stronger every day and becoming more mobile. I’m moving around a lot more and have even begun sitting in chairs for longer periods of time. It doesn’t sound like much, but it’s a huge step up from being bed-bound.

While it will be some time before I’m back to work in any real capacity, I want to try working on a small crafting project over the next week or so. I want to use this as a sort of soft trial to see how well my body can tolerate working. If the trial goes well, I’ll slowly transition back to work—but it will be with some limitations. The big one will be no bodysuit work for the foreseeable future. As such, the queue might get jumbled around a bit as I work on partials and complete people’s bodysuits at a later date.

As for the reason why I can’t work on bodysuits: it’s because I can’t be on my hands and knees right now. Aside from that being a very bad idea (more on that in a second), I physically cannot bend my left knee more than a few degrees. To give you guys an idea of what my leg situation is I had a full-thickness skin graft. What that means is they took all three layers of skin off my thigh—meaning my muscle was exposed. In order to cover the muscle, a partial skin graft was taken from my opposite leg. So, while my left leg has skin on it, it’s a paper-thin layer of new, delicate skin with no fat to protect the muscle. Every time I move, you can see my muscle—which looks about as gruesome as it feels.

It is not pleasant. And aside from the pain, the muscle is very weak right now, so I’m unsteady on my feet and have been making use of a walker when out and about. All that’s to say: bodysuits—and anything that requires me to bend down to cut large pieces—will be a no-go until that leg has healed up enough. I wish I had an idea of how long that will take, but unfortunately there is no clear roadmap. Though I will do my best to keep everyone as up to date as possible.

That said, I do intend to work. I’ve honestly been going mad. I’m not used to being this stationary, and the itch to craft is overwhelming! So, as mentioned above, I’m going to try making something small over the next week to see how things go. If all goes well, I’ll resume work—focusing on completing heads and paws for people, and making the rest at a later date.

I realize this isn’t necessarily the news you guys want to hear, as some of you are waiting on just bodysuits, but unfortunately, I’m at the mercy of my body. I will do everything in my power to complete everyone’s work in as timely a manner as I can manage. I just ask everyone for a little patience.

Thank you guys so much for all your love and support over the years. It truly means the world to me—as without you, I wouldn’t be able to do this for a living, nor would I have had the means to take on this journey. So from the bottom of my heart: thank you.

And as always, my DMs are open should anyone have any questions.
